The alphorn is a natural wind instrument rooted in Alpine tradition and represents the acoustic and historical origin of the modern horn.
This project brings a pure and elemental sound back to the orchestra, reconnecting large ensembles with the very origins of sound production through lip vibration, breath and the natural harmonic series.
Born from a professional experience in Switzerland and direct contact with the Alpine environment, the project explores the alphorn as a solo instrument within classical, orchestral and contemporary contexts. By placing the alphorn at the centre of the musical discourse, it invites audiences to experience sound in a direct and unmediated way.
The repertoire combines historical works, 20th-century compositions and contemporary creations, allowing the alphorn to engage in a natural dialogue with orchestra, professional wind bands and chamber ensembles. Alongside its artistic dimension, the project also incorporates an educational and outreach component aimed at cultural and academic institutions.
